What was your motivation?
My motivation was myself because I knew it was time for a change. I started this journey in June 2018 after summer vacation with my family. We were leaving the beach, and I had to walk up an incline. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. I could hardly breathe and needed to sit down immediately. I knew at that time it was time for a change.

Also, I have thyroid issues, and my weight has always fluctuated, but before I started this journey, I was at the heaviest weight I have ever been.

What inspired you to keep going?
One of my inspirations was my health. Giving up was not an option because I wanted to live. My other inspiration was women my age going after the same goal.

How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting my calories in half and staying in a calorie deficit. I am incorporating more protein and vegetables into my meals. I still eat all my favorite foods, but I cut the intake in half and do intermittent fasting twice a month.

Tell us about your workout routine.
I work out four days a week. I start each workout with cardio and finish with strength training.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started my journey weighing 345 pounds, and my current weight is 235 pounds.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson is that even though every day is a struggle mentally, physically, and emotionally, I have to stay focused. After all, I am doing this because I want to live better.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for other women is not to let society dictate their health journey. Always remember that no two people are the same, so don’t compare yourself to others. And do it for YOURSELF, not other people.
